glam naturalglam natural   I find it questionable and straight up generalizing to say that all girls love make up but for the ones that do; keep reading for my Glam Natural Makeup Review!

I like subtle, natural make up with my signature winged eyeliner and I occasionally go for a neutral smoky eye when the situation warrants it but the Glam Natural Starter Kit is an amazing intro to all natural make up. For me, one of the last ways I’ve gone vegan or rather eco friendly was with make up because it’s such an expensive commodity. When you’re into make up, you find your favorites and it’s hard to stray from something that has worked SO WELL for you in the past. As humans, we are creatures of habit and one of mine was sticking with the brands that have worked for me and keeping them for long after their expiration date!

When Glam Natural sent me a free starter kit, I was ecstatic to review it because I am always searching for a new make up products (even if I stick with the old ones!). Foundation is one of the hardest things to find because you have to get the shade right and the consistency has to work with your skin. I have dry skin so a lot of foundation tend to make my skin look chalky, dry it out more or there will be obvious dry skin spots especially during the winter months! To add to the never-ending list, I also have sensitive skin so I have to be careful of what I put on my skin because it’ll make me break out. I had no problem at all with break outs when using the kit!glam natural

I love this kit because it’s a perfect start to all natural makeup and  because it has everything from foundation and concealer to lip gloss and blush! Everything in the kit is fabulous and I couldn’t recommend it enough! Click read more for the complete review and color swatches!

I am IN LOVE with this whole kit!

When you’re a child you often wake up to breakfasts like this or rather dream of waffles smothered in everything you can imagine! When you grow up, you start to realize that maybe that isn’t such a good idea but it’s alright to indulge every once in a while! I hardly eat waffles so you can imagine my first time trying to *make* (key word: trying) was a happy disaster! I bought a waffle maker just for this review and everything! There was a point during the whole ordeal (an ordeal it was!) that I thought I was going to disappoint Isaac from Surprisingly Vegan and there wouldn’t be a recipe at all! I tried every different variation of batter amount from 1/4 cup, 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup and each time they failed….

I dubbed them happy snowflakes as I was internally freaking out!

Eventually as proof of these drool worthy photos — I found a happy medium and these Strawberry Almond Waffles smothered in chocolate shavings, coconut caramel, rawmio chocolate hazelnut spread, Go Veggie! strawberry cream cheese and finally Soyatoo! Rice Whip were born! Woooooah, what a mouthful that is to say!

Surprisingly Vegan is made with only six ingredients; gluten free oats, ground flaxseed, english walnuts, coconut palm nectar, sea salt and vanilla beans. How awesome is it that you can recognize each and every one of those ingredients? Can you believe these babies are gluten and refined sugar free?! They are divine! I had no idea what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised! It’s a delicious, whole grain and healthy alternative to the usual waffle!

I will be giving away three boxes of this vegan waffle mix! One to three different people to try but EVERYONE who enters will be receiving a special coupon for a percentage off buying a box of Surprisingly Vegan! Remember to click read more for the recipe for these yummy Strawberry Almond Waffles!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Just to be on the safe side; Surprisingly Vegan sent me these to review for free but all opinions stated within are my own and I am not being paid to write this review.

I was beyond excited when my Vegan Cuts Snack box arrived!

I’ve been dying to try it ever since they came out so when I found out they had chosen me to review the May box I jumped right on it! For those who don’t know what it is, Vegan Cuts provides monthly snack boxes for $19.95 (free shipping within the US!) a month and each month you’ll get tons of goodies delivered straight to your door! It”s a great way to discover new vegan items as well as get enough snacks to last you a month if you don’t end up eating them all at once!

vegan cuts

The items that came in the snack box were:

I loved the Vigilant Eats oatmeal because it’s a quick, easy and healthy treat I could take on the go and I love the addition of powdered hemp milk. I have to say I am in no way a fan of the Journey Bar. The idea behind the bar is awesome, a savory nutrition bar but I think the formula needs to be worked on. When I tasted the bar, there was an overwhelming ginger taste that I just could not imagine eating more of. The Earnest Eats bar was a little chalky but had good flavor. The Graw Bar was DELICIOUS! I loved it so much haha. I need to buy tons more of make my own version and I love that there are nothing but simple. natural and healthy ingredients. The Ginny Bakes bar is … say the least…..terrible. I honestly checked the date to see if it was expired because it was hard as a rock and tasted stale as can be! I feel bad saying this about it but I have to be honest and it was gross. The Bare Fruit apple chips were super yummy and I adore that there isn’t any added sugar as there shouldn’t be to begin with!

Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas = my new favorite snack!

I feel IN LOVE with the chickpeas and I questioned why I hadn’t found them sooner! So yummy and they taste just like litte bit sized falafel goodness! 😀 Onto the rest of the stuff, the Teecino herbal coffee was such a new thing for me and I had no idea what to expect and it actually wasn’t bad at all. I think what I decide to put in it can be changed but overall the taste was sweet, buttery and hazelnut-ty and a great coffee alternative! I could live with having me a cup of Teecino  every morning once I figure out the right proportions!

My boyfriend unfortunately goobled up all of Angie’s Sweet & Salty Kettle Corn so I can’t say much on that but I’m sure it was delicious! I haven’t yet tried the Crystal Deodorant Body Towelettes yet but I’ve heard good things about the brand so I’m looking forward to trying it!

We all know what superfoods are and what they can do for ue so I decided to create a superfood  PACKED cookie which is almost gluten free! To make it gluten free simply sub the flour with an all purpose gluten free flour and you’re on your way! These cookies pack a superfood punch of golden berries, chia and flax seeds, yumberry powder, goji berry powder, cacao nibs and mulberries!

This is just one of those cookies you won’t feel guilty eating!

Chia Seeds are known for being rich in Omega-3 fatty acids as well iron, magnesium, fiber, calcium, zinc and antioxidants! Also, they make a great binder and egg replacer similar to flax seeds. Golden Berries are an Incan berry that contain vital nutrients like beta carotene, protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, iron, fiber and others! Cacao is super high in antioxidants and magnesium! Goji Berries have been gaining popularity for years now and with good reason they contain 18 amino acids and more than 20 trace minerals as well as Vitamin A, C and E.  Mulberries are rich in Vitamin C, iron, calcium and fiber! Yumberries are packed with antioxidants and rich in Vitamin C! In China, they’re known as yang mei fruit and have been hailed to aid digestion, fight inflammation and lower bad cholesterol! Let’s not forget the benefits of Flax Seeds which are high in Omega-3 and 6 fatty acids.

The cookies themselves are slightly crunchy from the combination of the cacao nibs and the berries but also chewy and sweet. You would think they would taste like oatmeal cookies but they have a fruity flavor from the berry powders. Definitely worth a try! Make sure to read more for the recipe and a review of New York Natural’s Kale Chips and Greenola plus a special offer!

Have you tried Kale Chips yet?!

Blueberry Cobbler

Blueberry Cobbler

I have never had blueberry pie, cobble or crisp so what better reason to try it out! I call this blueberry cobbler with a twist because it’s almost a cobbler but reads like a pie or a crisp. I guess it’s the best of both worlds! I didn’t add too much sweetener to this so if you prefer a sweeter filling go ahead and add another tablespoon or two of coconut sugar or your sweetener of choice!

Crisp, tart and sweet oozing blueberry sauce with a crunchy pie crust!

Blueberry Cobbler

I think this would taste amazing fresh out of the oven topped with some vanilla vegan ice cream or even some coconut whipped cream and more blueberries! The more the merrier! I believe I can now understand why people love pie so much! I have unfortunately never tried much of any pie beyond the traditional apple and it causes me to question why?! It might be that my love of chocolate always supersedes whatever else there is to try but fresh fruit wins over chocolate any day!

Blueberry Cobble

What kind of pies do you guys recommend trying? I think I just might go on a pie making craze to make up for all the years I missed out on haha!

Welcome to the Virtual Vegan Potluck Desserts!

I am honored to be posting along with over 100 amazing vegan bloggers! I am constantly amazed by the spirit of vegan bloggers and how we can all come together for great cause. Ann has done a wonderful job in bringing us all together and I’m grateful to be a part of this brilliant event! I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone else has made and I’m sure it’s nothing short of delicious!

This is by the chocolaty-est dessert I have ever made! Fused layers of chocolate cheesecake and chocolate peanut butter fudge separated by rich chocolate “buttercream” frosting and finished off with just a bit more!

virtual vegan potluck

Chocolate. Chocolate. Chocolate.

This is a chocolate lovers dream and it is RICH and creamy with subtle hints of coconut from the frosting. This dessert didn’t actually come out quite like I imagined it to because my idea to make chocolate coconut whipped mousse failed on me last minute when my coconut milk decided not to separate! Next time I shall have a couple of cans of coconut milk on hand. Nonetheless, this chocolate dessert is TO DIE FOR and I can’t wait to try it again with thicker layers and hopefully my coconut milk will be nice to me to next time.

The cheesecake layers are rich and tangy with little notes of lemon and the fudge has melded together beautifully with the peanut butter. It is really is …chocolate heaven! I find it very apt and appropriate to name this Death by Chocolate because if you’re still longing for a piece of chocolate after this your taste buds must have gone crazy from chocolate overload!
